Sunday Prayers for January 21

Approaching God

Announcements & A Word of Welcome

Prelude, Gathering

Acclamation (based on words from Psalm 137)

Pastor: Let us sing the songs of the Lord in a land of freedom and faith, in His house of peace and prayer.
People: We will not forget that our highest joys come from our God; we will praise His Name forever.
Pastor: May we worship and adore the Lord for what He has done in this word and for His people. Amen.

First Hymn:

Prayers of Confession

Guide: Gracious and Everlasting Father, we come to You with our songs of faith and hymns of joy. We bow our hearts in Your Holy Presence and seek to serve You as our Sacred King.
People: Almighty and Loving Creator, You have brought us to this place of worship and called us to proclaim You as Sovereign. We pray that our praises delight You, and that our hearts are devoted to Your Kingdom.

Guide: Merciful Majesty, we confess to being complacent about our faith and truculent about Your blessings. We are guilty of pandering to our pride and nursing our wrath.
People: Immortal God, forgive our foolish hearts and sinful minds. Have mercy upon us for being so wrapped up in ourselves, instead of revering You. Hear us now as we silently confess our mistakes and seek Your grace through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

- Silent Confessions -

Guide: Holy God of the universe, without Jesus, we have no everlasting joy. Without His loving forgiveness, we have no immortal life or freedom.
People: We place our lives into Christ’s hands. By His blood alone, we are restored to Your Favor. In His eternal words, we pray, saying, "Our Father, Who art in heaven...THE LORD'S PRAYER” debts/debtors (Isaiah 32:9)

Promise of the Gospel:

Guide: Jesus is the Light of the world. Wherever we have extinguished God’s goodness with our sins and succumbed to the darkness of deception, Christ offers this hope: that whoever sincerely comes to Him and confesses their mistakes, He will restore through the light of His salvation and the power of His grace, both now and forever. Amen. (John 9:5)

Gloria Patri: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

Family Sermon (parents and all children, including Elementary school students come forward)

Encountering God

Anthem

Prayers for Health and Healing

Pastor: Save us, O God, by the power of Your Holy Name; free us from our fears by Your might.
People: Hear our prayers, O God; respond to the cries of our hearts and the words of our mouths.
Pastor: When suffering occurs through pain, troubles, or disappointment, let us seek the Lord for healing, restoration, and strength.
People: Surely God is our help; the Lord is the One who sustains us and all our loved ones.
Pastor: Almighty God, we pray for the healing presence of Your Holy Spirit to be experienced here today. We pray that Your Spirit will contend, overcome, and eradicate all those things which harm us in body, mind, heart, and soul.
People: We place our lives and our loved ones, our hopes and health into Your healing hands. Hear us now as we silently bring our petitions and requests to You.

Dedication:

Lord Jesus, as part of Your body, we are called to give and share our resources for the holy work of God’s Kingdom on earth. Take and bless our tithes and gifts. Use them to enhance Your Church in our community, across our country, and around the world. Take our lives, and let us truly become Your loving servants. In Your Sacred Name, we give and pray.
Amen. (1 Corinthians 15:44)
