Approaching God

Prelude: Welcome & Announcements

Call to worship ( based on Psalm 119:140,142 &144)

Leader: Almighty God, Your promises have been fulfilled; because of this, we love You.
People: Gracious Lord, Your righteousness is everlasting and Your Word is forever true.
Leader: Heavenly Father, Your statutes are always right; grant us the favor of living in Your Presence forever.

Confessional Prayer

Guide: Almighty Father, Who created the land, sea and air, we worship Your wonderful ways and praise Your Everlasting Name. You are the King of Glory, whose words produce Life and whose thoughts uphold the Universe.
People: Lord of Creation, You have plowed history with Your deeds of deliverance, and sustained our people with Your Love. You have directed our destinies and pre-determined all the paths that we should follow.
Guide: Merciful God, we have sought safety in Your plan of salvation, and refuge in Your acts of redemption. You have become a haven of healing and a harbor of holiness for our minds, hearts, bodies and souls.

People: Gracious Father, become a river of life for us, cleansing our past mistakes, freeing us from our vilest sins, and pardoning us of our selfish ways. We know that we have disappointed You with our false choices and feeble faith. Hear us now as we personally confess our sins to You.

Guide: Father God, without Jesus, we have no hope of complete forgiveness. Without His sacrifice, we have no way to be restored to Your favor. We place our sinful selves into Christ’s Hands and pray that His power will restore us to the blessings of Your Eternal Kingdom.
People: For we ask this in our Precious Savior’s Name and through His own words, we continue to pray, saying “Our Father, etc.”(Isaiah 23v10)

Promise of the Gospel:

Guide: Jesus has the authority to forgive our sins, to heal our souls and to grant us God’s blessings. When we truly believe that He is the Son of God and place our lives into His Keeping, we are guaranteed forgiveness of our sins and God’s everlasting love. So let us rejoice and be glad, for Jesus is our One, True and Living Savior, both now and always. Amen. (John 6v10)

Leader: We will exalt you, O LORD, for You lift us out of the depths of despair and will not let our troubles overwhelm us.
People: O LORD our God, we call to You for help, for You alone can truly heal us of all that besets us.
Leader: We feel secure in Your Holy Presence and safe in Your Abiding Love. Strengthen our faith and diminish our fears. Fill us with peace and free us from pain.
People: O LORD, please show Your favor to our friends and families. Grant them health and healing; release them from dismay and depression. Bring health, hope and happiness to them.
Leader: Hear us, O LORD, as we pray. Be merciful to us and all our loved ones, for You alone have the power to help us recover from all of our troubles.
People: Turn our worries into cheers; remove our sadness and replace it with joy. Hear us now as we silently pray.

Guide: LORD Almighty, whose plans are always fulfilled and whose will is never thwarted, we adore and revere You as our True Creator, Heavenly Father and Everlasting God.

People: Gracious Lord, You have called us to this place of prayer and worship, so that we may know Your peace, share Your Words and experience Your Love.

Guide: Loving God, we praise You for being patient with us. We acknowledge Your kindness and compassion. We know that we have sinned against You by allowing pride to determine our actions, fear to diminish our faith, and greed to overcome our charity.

People: Merciful Father, humble us in Your Holy Presence. Enable us to cast off our sinful ways. Forgive our vile mistakes and corrupt decisions, our selfish choices and unworthy deeds. Please hear us now as we personally confess our faults to You.

Guide: Eternal God, You can only save us from ourselves when we place our lives into Christ’s hands. You can only forgive our sins when we humbly confess our mistakes to Jesus, Your Son, who died for our sake.

Guide: Heavenly Father, Bestower of blessings and Lord of life, we adore and applaud Your mighty works of creation, which remind us of Your majestic Power and inspire us to confidently place our lives into your hands.
People: Wonderful Lord, we have set aside this sacred time and planned our praise and worship to reflect upon Your ways, rejoice in Your deeds and regenerate our faith in Your Holy Word. You are the One, true and Living God; we are privileged to be Your humble servants.

Guide: Merciful God, despite our enthusiasm for Your Will, we confess to being partial to our own understanding and more apt to follow our own desires. Instead of seeking Your guidance, we cherish our own opinions and ideas. Instead of accepting Your counsel, we furnish our own, which leads us into temptation and causes us to diminish our faith.

Leader: O Lord, You are our refuge and shield; We have placed our hopes in Your word.
People: Sustain us according to Your promises, and we will live; do not let our hopes be dashed.
Leader: Uphold us, and we will be delivered; we will always have regard for your decrees.
People of God! Let us worship and glorify the Lord!

Confessional Prayer

Guide: Almighty and Everlasting God, whose ancient power created the heavens and the earth; whose holy word sustains all existing, we humbly bow before Your sacred presence and seek to please You with our prayers and praises.

People: Heavenly Lord, You have called us to Your House to worship Your ways and glorify Your great and wonderful deeds. You have gathered us from different places to unite our voices, minds and hearts in song, ceremony and service.

Guide: Gracious Father, we know that our lives are imperfect and sometimes we disappoint through bad choices and poor decisions. We allow our faith to be diminished by our passions and pride, our ambitions and ideals, our sinful greed and self-centered goals.

People: Merciful God, in those moments when we are reckless with our souls and indifferent to Your words; when we are unconcerned about our Your Salvation and inconsiderate of Your Ways, please forgive us. Guide: Lord of Life and Creator of the Universe, whose ways are everlasting and whose words are never thwarted, we humbly gather in Your holy house of prayer.
People: Almighty Father, we have come from our homes to be with You. We have set aside this hallowed hour to praise and adore You.

Guide: Merciful God, we have neglected to be Your faithful servants in the world. We have ignored opportunities to share the Gospel and to help other people in need.
People: Gracious Lord, we are guilty of a multitude of sins. There are so many times each day when we allow temptation to overcome our faith, and for pride to diminish our beliefs. Hear us now as we confess our sins to You alone.
